Research Notes:
Information on date of burial from research done by Paul Cote. Anne came to Canada with her parents about 1620. There are several theories about her parents. In some she is said to be a sister of Abraham. However there is also evidence that she is a daughter of Abraham and his first wife, who died soon after she arrived in Canada, and Abraham remarried soon after this.
Feb. 3/06 - according to PRDH there is no mention of Abraham Martin and Marguerite Langlois being her parents. The PRDH records start with Anne Martin as a immigrant and show her birth around 1608 in France.
Anne's place of death and burial in PRDH are listed only as Quebec not St. Pierre Ile de Oreleans as in Pauls research.

"Anne Martin was born about in 1603, though her origins in France and her parents' names are unknown. She may be the daughter of Galleran (or Gontrand) Martin, who died a widower at Beauport on 27 October 1662. On 17 November 1635, Anne married Jean Cote in Quebec City. No marriage contract has been found for this couple. Anne could not sign her name, though it is not known if her husband could. Like Anne, Jean's origins in France and his parents' names are unknown, though he is possible from Montagne, Perche. According to the Jesuit Relations, Jean arrived in Quebec on 20 July 1635, either on the Saint-Jacques or one of the other ships in the same flotilla.
Anne and Jean settled at Beauport, next to Noel Langlois and fille a marier Francoise Grenier, who granted them a portion of the land that they owned. Anne and Jean had eight children together. Son Louis was baptized 25 October 1635 at Quebec City followed by Simone (09 December 1637), Martin (12 July 1639) and Mathieu (06 July 1642). son Jean was baptized at Quebec City 25 February 1644, followed by Noel (04 May 1646), Marie (baptized 12 January, buried 25 January 1648) and Louise (18 April, 1650).
Jean Cote died 27 March 1661 in his home at Beauport and was buried in the church of Nortre-Dame de Quebec the next day. Anne Martin survived her husband for more than 20 years but never remarried. She died 04 December 1684 and was buried the next day in Quebec City.
